CSJ Ministerial Formation Program for Educators
"If our life in Christ means anything to you, be united in your convictions and united in your love." Philippians 2:1
CSJ Ministerial Formation Program for Educators fosters a dynamic sense of purpose and dignity in those who serve to bring the teaching ministry of Jesus into the future. The CSJ Ministerial Formation Program for Educators is a multi-faceted process offering a unique opportunity that grounds one in a rich tradition steeped in Gospel values, Church ministry and the vision of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange. In collaboration with the Dioceses of Orange and San Diego, the CSJ Ministerial Formation Program for Educators has helped 202 educators receive religion certification, re-certification, and in the Orange Diocese, a Lay Pastoral Ministry certificate. Sixty educators from the Network schools in the San Diego region successfully completed the two year program in 2006. In 2008, Orange I, South, completed the program; St. Joseph, Santa Ana looks forward to a continuation session in March 2009. Five Network schools are participating in Orange II, North this year. Orange II includes ninety educators from St. Juliana Falconieri, Fullerton; Our Lady of Guadalupe, La Habra; St. Joseph, Placentia; and Annunciation, Fullerton. Orange III includes 21 educators from St. Cecilia, Tustin. This year Holy Family Cathedral School, Orange and St. Irenaeus School, Cypress begin the formation program along with the six San Francisco Schools: Notre Dame des Victoires, St. Elizabeth School, St. Finn Barr School, St. Mary's Chinese Day School, St. Monica School, Star of the Sea School and Star of the Sea Pre-School.
"The Ministerial Formation Program for Educators is a finely orchestrated experience that re-enforces the vocation of the teachers and provides wonderful input that increases confidence in being a Catholic educator."
Catholic Update
In 2009 - 2010, the Humboldt Catholic Update series begins its third year in the county where the Sisters of St. Joseph began their ministry. The Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange place emphasis on ministerial formation for all associated with them in ministry. The CSJ Educational Network gives direction to the Humboldt Catholic Update. Four times a year, sessions in spiritual, theological, and pastoral formation studies are offered to local parishes and schools in Humboldt County. This program is designed to foster spiritual and ministerial growth and to broaden the impact of the Gospel values within their daily lives. These sessions are intended for all Catholics interested in continuing their adult faith formation and to learn about the rich Catholic faith, its traditions and spirituality. Each year over 100 people participate in each of the four sessions. This school year we will present the following sessions at Assumption Church, Ferndale and St. Bernard Parish, Eureka:
- September 15 - 16, 2009: Presenter: Maryloyola Yettke, D.Min. Polishing the Lens of How We Look at the World
- November 17 - 18, 2009: Presenter: Father Christopher Smith
- February 2 - 3, 2010: Presenter: Sister Anne Hennessey, CSJ
- April 20 - 21, 2010: Presenter: Sister Margaret Scharf, OP
